Sophie Turner Says X-Men: Dark Phoenix Will Revolutionize the Superhero Genre

With X-Men: Apocalypse not doing too well with critics or fans, everyone is hoping next year's X-Men: Dark Phoenix will right that film's wrongs. Bringing back most of the Apocalypse cast, Dark Phoenix promises an intergalactic X-Men adventure with high stakes and a major death. Sophie Turner, the actress who will be playing Jean Grey in the film, is promising all of that and much more.

During an interview with Empire Magazine (via X-Men Films), Turner praised new director Simon Kinberg. Turner claims that Kinberg is one of the best directors she has worked with, which is high praise.

"Simon has been the brain behind X-Men for years, and it's really exciting to have what feels like one of our own rise up and take hold of the franchise, and direct it in the way that he sees it. I have to say he's one of the best director I've ever worked with. He's so passionate and collaborative."

The Game of Thrones actress also says that Dark Phoenix is a "dark, gritty drama." She also says the film will revolutionize the superhero genre, which is a huge statement.

"We are revolutionizing it. We wanted to create a whole new genre of superhero movie."

X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters on November 2, 2018.
