Sony Reportedly Casts Jared Leto for Spider-Man Spin-Off Morbius

Jared Leto was the Clown Prince of Crime and now he might be a Living Vampire. It seems like Sony has cast the Suicide Squad actor for the lead role in Morbius, who most comic book fans know as one of Spider-Man's on-again-off-again allies. Casting Leto is an interesting choice since the guy does look great at 50, so he might actually be a vampire.

According to Variety, Leto has been attached to the project for some time but would not fully commit unless he knew it was headed in the right direction. It's also being said that Safe House director Daniel Espinosa will be helming the project, which might have been enough to convince Leto to sign on, though that's just speculation.

Morbius is one of the many Spider-Man spin-off movies that Sony is hoping to make. Venom is also part of that list and will be hitting theaters this October so if that does well, we could see more of these Spider-Man-less spin-offs. Silver and Black was also meant to be part of this cinematic universe, but Sony pulled it from the company's release schedule.

No release date for Morbius has been announced, so fans will have to wait a bit. Here is hoping that they do the Midnight Son justice.
