Simon Pegg Doesn’t Think Quentin Tarantino Will Actually Get Around To Direct A Star Trek Movie
There might be a lot of buzz surrounding Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Star Trek movie but Star Trek actor Simon Pegg doesn’t believe that The Hateful Eight director’s actually going to come around to direct the next Star Trek movie.
Opening up to Happy Sad Confused about Star Trek: Beyond, Pegg admits that he doesn’t really believe that the director’s going to end up working on the next Star Trek movie because of the filmmaker’s whole “ten movie” plan.
Tarantino is planning to take on the new Star Trek movie after working on his ninth film Once Upon a Time In Hollywood, but because of the director’s intention to retire after ten movies, Pegg says it’s unlikely that the filmmaker will get around to working on the new Star Trek entry.
“I don’t think Quentin is going to direct it. Because he’s got in his California movie [‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’] to do and then I think only doing one more film after that. And I doubt, I don’t think he could get around to directing a Star Trek in two-three years.”
While Pegg does definitely have a point, Tarantino has long since mentioned in past interviews that he badly wants to work on an epic time-travel Star Trek adventure. The filmmaker even once claimed that he’d actually direct an extra film out of his self-imposed ten-movie rule just for Star Trek. So will Tarantino work on a new Star Trek movie? Or won’t he? We’ll have to wait and see.
