Simon Pegg Confident that Star Trek 4 will Happen

Though Star Trek Beyond underperformed at the box office, a lot of people who did see the film had praised the script from Simon Pegg, saying that it made the franchise finally feel like a true Trek one. The fate of a fourth Star Trek has been up in the air ever since, but Pegg himself is confident that the movie will happen.

Talking to TheQuietus, Pegg explained:

"We all got this email the other day from J. J. Abrams just sort of saying, ‘um, oh guys, Quentin Tarantino came in the office and pitched this and we're gonna think about it. We were like, what? People just assume, I think, because it's Quentin that it will be R-rated but he is a massive Star Trek fan … who knows! … I know we're doing more. I'd love to – I love those guys. It's, of course, difficult because we lost Anton [Yelchin] and moving forward without him still feels unimaginable."

Pegg has expressed that he doesn't think that Tarantino will end up directing the movie, but I would be just as happy if we got a script from the cult director; just imagine Tarantino's rapid fire dialogue coming from Scotty, Spock, or anyone in the Enterprise crew.

Before Tarantino was onboard, it was revealed that Chris Hemsworth would have made a return in the Trek franchise. It seemed that Beyond was building up to another appearance from George Kirk, but Chris Hemsworth has admitted that he had stopped getting updates on Trek ever since news came out that Tarantino wanted to work on the franchise.

Hopefully we'll get an official update on Trek 4 soon.

Star Trek 4 has not been officially announced and has no release date.
