Though news on other DCEU projects have gone quiet, we're getting constant updates for David F. Sandberg's Shazam! movie. Latest rumor has it that the film will have an appearance from Henry Cavill's Superman.
According to Revenge of the Fans, Cavill will be returning as the Man of Steel in Shazam!, but we don't have any specifics on how involved he'll be in the film. Seeing that Captain Marvel and Superman's powers are almost equal in the comics, I can imagine that young Billy Batson will see Superman as his inspiration and use that influence on his alter ego, Captain Marvel.
We should just take this as a rumor for now, but seeing as Superman is supposed to be the main hero of the DCEU, it would make sense that he would have some sort of presence in the Shazam! film. At best, I think we'll be seeing Superman from Batson's point of view, in news programs or posters. It would be amazing if Superman actually meets Captain Marvel in the movie.
Despite all the shake-ups behind the scenes of the DCEU, Shazam! seems to be going along smoothly. The cast is almost complete, and I have a feeling that sooner or later we'll get our first look at Zachary Levi in full Captain Marvel gear.
Shazam! is set to hit theaters April 5, 2019.
