Shazam! Casts Billy Batson's Foster Mother

Despite the shake-up that the DCEU is currently undergoing, David F. Sandberg's Shazam! movie seems to be going along as scheduled. Heroes and villains have already been cast, and now we have a new addition to the supporting characters.

According to Deadline, Marta Milans (No Tomorrow) has been cast as Billy Batson's foster mother. It wasn't confirmed who her character is, but everyone is guessing that she will be playing Rosa Vasquez. As for Batson's step-father, everyone thinks he'll be played by The Walking Dead's Cooper Andrews.

With the DCEU being more on the glum side of the superhero spectrum, Shazam! promises to be the first comedy movie from DC. Actors from the film have constantly compared it to Tom Hanks' Big, only this time, the child protagonist morphs into Superman.

With Zachary Levi as Captain Marvel and Mark Strong as the villain Doctor Sivana, I'm excited to see what Shazam! brings to the table. Hopefully WB did the right thing hiring Walter Hamada as the new head of DC's movie department.

With the film slated to come out April of next year, we should probably expect our first look at the movie later 2018. With Aquaman being the sole DC movie coming out this year, there's a lot of room for DC to hype up its upcoming movies for 2019.

Shazam! is set to come out April 5, 2019.
