Sean Bean Shares His Favorite Death On Screen

If there's anyone who knows about dying on screen, it's Sean Bean. The English actor has died so many times on screen – from the time he got driven off a cliff by a herd of cattle in The Field to the time his head got chopped off in Game of Thrones.

After more than two dozen on screen deaths, Bean shares his very favorite in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. The winning death sequence? Boromir's death in The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring.

"It's my favorite death scene, and I've done a few. You couldn't ask for a more heroic death."

While Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson could have used CG arrows for the death, he opted to take a more realistic direction by having arrows stick into a metal breastplate place underneath the English actor's clothes. Once the camera started rolling Bean would then pretend he was getting shot, falling to the ground like a hero.

Though Bean has had a lot of interesting onscreen deaths over the years, his death in Lord of the Rings was one of the noblest. After finding himself seduced by the One Ring, Boromir takes three arrows to the chest while protecting the Hobbits from Uruk-hai. If that isn't redeeming, we don't know what is.
