Scarlett Johansson Says There's Limited Time For Her To Star in Black Widow Movie

When it was reported that Marvel hired a writer for the Black Widow movie, fans erupted with joy. Many people have wanted to see a movie starring the character for quite some time, thanks to her standout roles in Iron Man 2, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Winter Soldier. Scarlett Johansson has decided to speak about the possibility of the film coming to fruition and had some fairly interesting comments.

During an interview with Variety, Johansson said she would love to make a movie with the character under the right circumstances. Johansson feels that the character has a ton of backstory that can be explored, which is pretty true when one considers how much of the Avenger's history has already been revealed.

"I would like for it to happen under the right circumstances. I think there's a lot of opportunity to mine that storyline. She's got a really rich origins story. There's a lot of places you can go - you can bring it back to Russia. You could explore the Widow program. There's all kinds of stuff that you could do with it. You could really uncover the identity of who this person is, where she comes from and where she's part of."

When asked if the film would be a prequel story or set in the modern day, Johansson felt that both scenarios were possible for the character.

"It's a possibility. There's plenty of back story. Or not. It could be something else. Where do the Avengers go? They are underground. What happens then? What happens after it all falls apart? There are so many ways you can go. I think it would just have to be very much like its own specific thing. It would have to have its own specific vibe. It would have been totally different than any of the other standalone films. I think if the fans wanted it enough, then it would probably become a reality."

Although the actress is excited about the film coming to fruition, she did say that there's a limited amount of time to get her to star in a Black Widow movie. She says that a time will come when she no longer wants to wear a "skin-tight catsuit." These comments are similar to the ones that Jeremy Renner made about a possible solo Hawkeye film.

"If I did it, I'd have to do it while I still actually wanted to wear a skin-tight catsuit. I don't know how much longer that's going to be."

Black Widow will be appearing in Avengers: Infinity War later this year, on May 4. She will also be in the sequel, which comes out on May 3, 2019.
