The seventh Saw movie was dubbed "The Final Chapter", but Lionsgate is developing Saw: Legacy, the eight film in the popular horror franchise. Bloody Disgusting shared the first plot details for the film, and that Tobin Bell will return to reprise his role as Jigsaw.
Saw: Legacy aims to breathe new life into the franchise, so Lionsgate can make more films. Here are some story details:
Saw: Legacy will begin with bodies turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the investigation?
They also said that Tobin Bell will return in "some capacity" and that Costas Mandylor and Cary Elwes will reprise their roles in the franchise.
Saw: Legacy's cast also includes Mandela Van Peebles, Hannah Anderson, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, Matt Passmore, Hannah Emily Anderson, Josiah Black, Shaquan Lewis, James Gomez, and Michael Bolsvert.
Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger, the duo behind Sorority Row, Pirahna 3D, and Pirahna 3DD, wrote the script for Saw: Legacy. It's being directed by the Spierig Brothers (Undead Daybreakers, Predestination).
