Samuel L. Jackson Talks About How He Learned About His Part In Captain Marvel

Last month, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige surprised fans when he announced that Marvel fans would get to see a younger Nick Fury in Captain Marvel. Not many expected a Nick Fury with two functional eyes to pop up in Carol Danver's very first feature film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Now, speaking in a new interview with Fandango about his upcoming action comedy The Hitman's Bodyguard, Samuel L. Jackson says that he learned about his part in Captain Marvel by surprise when he read about it online.

Playing a younger Nick Fury with two functioning eyes, Jackson's going to have to start learning his lines again but this time without an eyepatch across his face. It might not sound like much of a challenge, but Captain Marvel's going to be the first time that Jackson gets to play a regular two-eyed person in the MCU.

"It will be easier to learn my lines. It's one of those weird things I figured out. The first day I shot as Nick Fury, with one eye, I couldn't remember my lines. I was tired because we were coming from somewhere and I thought it was fatigue, and I realized I learned my lines with two eyes so I started blocking my eye … it's a stupid kind of thing, but it totally works."

It's certainly going to be interesting seeing Nick Fury's full face in Captain Marvel and we wonder whether the film's going to show how the S.H.I.E.L.D. director loses eyesight on his left eye.

Captain Marvel is scheduled to premiere on March 8, 2019.
