It looks like every anime fan's favorite wandering swordsman is hitting the streets again.
It's been years since Nobuhiro Watsuki's beloved samurai manga ended, but it seems like Kenshin and the gang are ready to take on another adventure with a new arc continuing the 28-volume collection.
The Weekly Shonen Jump magazine (via Comicbook) has just announced the arrival of Rurouni Kenshin: Hokkaido arc in their latest issue, tell fans that they'll be able to read the start of the new Rurouni Kenshin arc in Shuesha's Jump SQ starting this week. Starring the "oro"-speaking wandering swordsman of the Hiten Mitserugi-Ryu, the new series will span five arcs and start from where the series ended.
It's been a while since the Rurouni Kenshin manga series ended. The first volume of Rurouni Kenshin saw release way back in 1994 and the last volume hit shelves in 1999. Focusing on the story of Kenshin Himura, a hitokiri(assassin) looking for redemption during the Meiji Restoration, the series is considered one of the most popular series of the 90s. Not only has Rurouni Kenshin printed more than 60 million copies, but it has also received a TV anime adaptation, an animated film adaptation, three OVA (original video anime), three live-action movies, and a stage musical.
News about a continuation for Rurouni Kenshin's definitely going to excite fans. Sure, Watsuki ended the manga pretty well, but we definitely want to see what Kenshin and the gang are all up to.
