Rumor: Star Wars Episode IX Title Could Bring The Film Series Full Circle

The official title of Star Wars: Episode IX has not yet been announced. However, a rumored title for the highly anticipated sequel seems to be the perfect fit that would finally bring the film series full circle.

Fans have been wondering about the film's working title since the premiere of The Last Jedi. Naturally, there have been a few jokesters who poke fun at the possibility of more porgs like Return of thePorgs. Interestingly, a Reddit post has suggested that the working title for Episode IX could be Star Wars: A New Order.

Although it would immediately make you think about the 80s rock band or Palpatine's infamous order from the prequels, it does have a pleasant ring to it. The title could finally establish Rey as the leader of a new Jedi order. Alternatively, it could also refer to Kylo Ren and his plans for The First Order. Either way, it pays tribute to Episode III (Revenge of the Sith) as well as Episode VI (Return of the Jedi) while confirming that both orders no longer exist.

A New Order could also pay homage to A New Hope and somehow lead straight to Rian Johnson's new trilogy.

Everyone has their ideas but A New Order seems to be a fan favorite. Although Disney and Lucasfilm have not yet announced Episode IX's working title, we wouldn't be surprised if it is revealed to be Blue Monday, in reference to a New Order song.

Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled for release on December 20, 2019.
