Rise of the TMNT: First Look at John Cena's Character

Nickelodeon is rebooting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in a major way, with all new looks, attitudes, weapons, and even a new villain. We've known for a while that John Cena will be playing the main baddie in lieu of Shredder, and now we have a first look at his Baron Draxum.

Draxum's origin is that he is a mutant warrior alchemist that comes from the Hidden City and wants to protect all mutant-kind. His main goal is to use the ooze that transformed the turtles on the humans so that they could become insect-like beings called ‘Oozesquitoes.' Sure it sounds kind of silly, but what do you expect from a show called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

Draxum , like Shredder, will be a recurring villain, and he'll be introduced at the premiere of the show. Nickelodeon looks to be really shaking up the classic TMNT formula this time around. Now, Raphael is the oldest of the four and he's the leader with Leonardo being pushed aside as the ‘cool rebel.' Each turtle's main weapon has also been changed, with Raph using tonfas, Leo using a single odachi sword, and Mikey using a kusari-fundo. So far, Donny is the only one with an unchanged bo staff weapon.

No specific release date has been announced for Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but expect the show to come out on Nick sometime this year.
