Richard Garfield Teams Up With Magic: The Gathering Artists To Develop New Card-Drafting Game

Magic: The Gathering creator Richard Garfield has designed a new card-drafting game called Carnival of Monsters, and a Kickstarter campaign has been created so you can help fund this fantastic project. The game "challenges you to explore exotic, fantastic lands and collect extraordinary monsters to display in your carnival, earning the adoration of the crowd and the fame that only a true carnival master can enjoy."

Garfield has teamed up with some talented fantasy artists most of whom have illustrated art for Magic: The Gathering. They include the legendary John Avon, Mark Tedin, Ron Spencer, Nene Thomas, Drew Tucker, Pete Ventis, Jesper Myrfors, and Larry Elmore.

Here's a brief description of the game:

"Richard Garfield's Carnival of Monsters combines card drafting and set collecting for a game experience that is at once familiar and refreshingly new. Players begin with a small number of Lands, which they can use to play Monsters. At the beginning of each of the game's four Seasons, each player is dealt eight cards—which can include more Lands, Monsters, or other cards they might be able to use to improve their carnival"

Its Kickstarter campaign currently has a total goal of $262,374, and $15,292 have been pledged so far.
