Rian Johnson Slices A Porg Cake Head Celebrating Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is getting its home release next month and it looks like director Rian Johnson and members of Disney's marketing team had a party to celebrate the film's critical and commercial success.

Part of the celebration included frighteningly realistic Porg cake, and while Johnson didn't seem like he wanted to open the thing up, the director was made to make the first cut. Apologizing profusely, the filmmaker went for the center of the cake, and then cut sideways to take a slice.

However, while Johnson seems a bit weirded out by cutting half of a porg's head off, The Last Jedi director goes on to thank the Disney marketing team for their effort and then goes on saying that it was "weirdling satisfying" to cut open the Porg cake.

While none of this has any bearing on The Force Awakens sequel, it's strange to see Johnson cutting open a Porg cake's head right after the news came out that The Last Jedi was among those awarded by PETA in its Oscats Awards. After all, one of the reasons the film won at the Oscats was because Chewie stopped himself from eating the Porg that he roasted for dinner. Quite ironic seeing the new side by side.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi gets its Digital HD release on March 18 and its Blu-Ray and DVD release on March 27.
