Power Rangers-esque Game is Landing on Platforms This May

There are only a few weeks before Power Rangers is out in theaters. If you're still looking for something to take your mind off the wait, Behold Studios may just have something for you.

Chroma Squad, the game that has seen a successful run on Kickstarter back in 2015, is now launching on the PS4 and Xbox One. Bandai Namco confirmed this (via Gamasutra), as well as acknowledging that a PS Vita release doesn't seem to be in the cards.

"In Chroma Squad, players take control of five high-flying stunt actors who decide to quit their day jobs and create their own Power Rangers TV show."

At the very least, Chroma Squad is unabashed and unashamed to acknowledge where it takes inspiration from. The Brazilian developer Behold Studios first released the idea as a Kickstarter, which then released on PC via Steam.

Come spring, the game will be available in North America on the PS4, Xbox One, and Steam.

The official trailer, seen below, shows an almost hilarious origin story for the main characters of the game. I don't know if it's because of the purposefully crude video, the fact that there were only three stunt people at the beginning (so we're missing the Rangers (or is that squad members?) Black and White, or the fact that the Ranger colors pretty much change within the entire clip.

The game itself harks back to the pixelated retro style. There are quite a number of features and even multiple endings and of course, it won't be complete with Giant Mecha Battles.

International pricing for the game has not yet been confirmed, and the publisher has yet to release an official release date for Chroma Squad.
