Pokémon Gen 8 Coming to Nintendo Switch in 2019

The announcement of Pokemon Let's Go! Pikachu and Let's Go! Eevee has gotten a mixed response from the fan community. While many players are excited about the Let's Go games, others have voiced disappointment in some of the mechanics taken from Pokemon GO, like the lack of wild monster fights.

It seems like those fans will have to wait a year, as Nintendo has stated that the next mainline Pokemon game will be coming to the Switch in the second half of 2019. Unlike the two Let's Go games, it will not have any ties to Pokemon GO and will have proper online support.

Of course, the real reason why fans are excited about the next game is that it will be the eighth generation and introduce even more Pokemon.

Both Let's Go! Pikachu and Let's Go! Eevee are more focused on gaming at home, whilst also being aimed at (haha PokeBall joke) Pokemon GO fans, as well as children who are new to the franchise. Whatever the eighth generation ends up being called, it will have more elements from the handheld classics.

Pokemon Sun and Moon were the most recent generation introduced, with Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon improving on what those two had and adding more post-game content. The eighth generation has a lot to live up to since Sun and Moon were critically acclaimed.
