The new augmented reality smartphone game Pokemon Go is now officially more popular than porn.
The search term "porn" has long been seen as the top for searches, showing the predictable base interests of the internet, but now, more people are searching for Pokemon Go than pornography. As Independent.co.uk points out: just as Brexit did in the wake of the UK's vote to leave the EU, it's rare for stories to manage to break the barrier and beat pornography in search trends.
The game that lets players catch virtual creatures in the real world with their smartphone, finally broke the barrier on June 11. With the game surpassing Twitter in terms of Daily Active Users, I'm not surprise that its popularity beat porn online.
Most of the searches come from countries where the game is already available: United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
