Pokemon Go Rises From The Dead With Halloween Event

Have you dropped the Pokemon Go habit? Well it might be time to pick it up again, at least during this week-long Halloween event.

Niantic Labs has released an update via its blog post and a trailer, informing fans that a new Pokemon Go Halloween event is upon us.

The event will introduce the very welcome bonus of awarding six pieces of Candy for every Pokemon caught. At the same time, transferring ‘mons will award two Candies. That means double the Candies obtained in both activities.

For those who have been taking advantage of the Buddy Pokemon, the Halloween event will also let players earn Candy four times as fast. Imagine that, I'll be doing a lot more walking with my Magikarp buddy so I can finally get a lot closer to getting that Gyarados.

"We anticipate seeing many Pokemon-themed costumes during this anniversary year, and now Trainers can add Pokemon Go to their trick-or-treat route to receive Candy and add some of the spookier Pokemon to their Pokedex."

Perhaps the better news is that spooky Pokemon will now be spawning more frequently, because what is Halloween without a little scare? But this time, oddly enough, I guess it'll be the trick-or-treaters going after the monsters instead of the other way around.

Among the spooky ‘mons that we'll be seeing more of for the Pokemon Go Halloween event include Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, Drowzee, Hypno, and Golbat. Crossing my fingers that Hypno will keep coming my way. Zubat's also there, but it's hardly worth the mention. Because let's admit it, we've been seeing Zubat way too much anyway, that's not exactly a surprise.

The Pokemon Go Halloween event will run from Oct. 26 to Nov. 1.
