Pokemon Go Plus Won’t Help You Catch Pokemon Until September

Pokemon Go fans may still be divided into two segments: those who are waiting for it and those who have been playing it.

Those who are part of the former, I feel your pain. Those who have been enjoying the game, you may find one bit of news a little disappointing. Nintendo has confirmed via Twitter that the awaited Pokemon Go accessory, the Pokemon Go Plus, will be delayed until September.

Previously, Niantic Labs has revealed that it will be available at the end of July. The new announcement did not specify the reason for the delay. It is possible that the number of units made are not enough to fulfill the preorders made.

However, perhaps the more worrying part is how big of a delay this feels. Nintendo did not even mention a definite date for the delay, which suggests that it hasn't been properly set as of writing.

What's more, does this mean that the delay also suggests that some areas won't be enjoying the game as late as September? The fact that you use Pokemon Go Plus as an accessory to catch Pokemon means players who experienced the first wave of the launch like those in Australia, New Zealand, and the U.S., may not find it as useful.

After all, you've probably caught quite a handful of Pokemon by yourself. Or you may have had some help using some handy apps to notify you of a nearby Pokemon. or, if you're like this guy, you've probably ended up second or third to finish the "base game"—because we are still waiting for those Legendaries, right, Niantic Labs?

In any case, I think this delay can goboth ways for Nintendo. On the one hand, some may easily just cancel preorders, especially if you've got yourself a relatively big Pokedex already. On the other hand, preorders are everywhere, and a little delay won't likely cause cancellations. The Pokemon Go Plus does look like a noteworthy item for any Pokemon collector, regardless if you'll really use it or not.
