Pokemon Go Goes Live in Asia, But Launch Delayed in China, Korea, & India

After weeks of waiting, a lot of Asian fans can finally jump in on the hype officially. Pokemon Go is finally out on both the iOS App Store and the Play Store for Asia and Oceania.

"Trainers in 15 new countries and regions across Asia and Oceania can now officially download Pokemon Go from the Play Store or App Store. Discover Pokemon in the world around you!"

The countries to get the game include Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. Niantic Labs announced this via the official Pokemon Go website.

This is quite the remarkable launch considering how the game has been having several issues left and right. The developer has already given is official statement on what has been happening it had even assured fans that shutting down third-party tracking apps were necessary as these have been eating away at server capacity.

Given how the company was able to release Pokemon Go to this many areas at once, I guess it was the best move. Sadly, it seems that the likes of China, Korea, and India will still have to wait.

Korea can still enjoy the similar but educational Pororo Go while China already has a working clone app, City Spirit Go. Hopefully, the game will still launch in these areas soon.

As far as firsthand experience goes, Pokemon Go is pretty nifty. I've already caught three ‘mons myself in the first three hours since I downloaded the app. PokeStops are a dime a dozen in public places—though sites are odds, as they include murals, paintings, and even waiting sheds. So much for notable landmarks.

Given that the rollout is now encompassing a bigger audience, maybe Niantic Labs can start planning for bug fixes. Or better yet, maybe the Legendaries will finally arrive in the game. Maybe then, Niantic Labs can get back some of the love that fans have been expressing since day on for Pokemon Go.
