Niantic may have countermeasures to prevent and discourage gamers from cheating on Pokemon Go, but sneaky gamers still manage to find major bugs in the augmented reality gaming app to exploit every now and then.

An old bug which has just been recently rediscovered by gamers are being used to siphon an unlimited number of coins from Pokemon Go gym defenders.  According to a post by a Pokemon Go gamer on Reddit, players can the daily limit Pokemon Go has on coins by changing the time zone on their phones. While Niantic’s put a 50 coin limit on coins that gamers can get from gym defenders, it seems like changing time zones “resets” this limit by forcing the app to think that the day’s changed.

Apparently players can switch time zones as many times as they want, allowing them to siphon an unlimited number of coins.

It isn’t a new exploit, but a lot of gamers have been using it to rake in more coins from the game. Some have already lobbied for Niantic to fix the loophole in the system, and with all the attention it’s been drawing, it’s likely that the developer will take action very soon.
