Pokemon Go Dev Takes Articuno Away From Players Who Got Them Early

Pokemon Go developer Niantic Labs has responded to the appearance of the legendary Pokemon Articuno, in Trainers' accounts, showing that the company has taken away these Legendaries from players' accounts.

A Niantic representative shared a statement to IGN, saying that the company has "recitified the situation" and "revoked" Articuno. The statement says:

"We recently noticed that a few Legendary Pokemon got into a few accounts when they shouldn't have, To preserve the game's integrity and as a measure of fairness, we have rectified the situation and revoked the legendary Pokemon from the Trainers' accounts."

Just a few days ago, we reported about the Pokemon Go player in Ohio who claimed to have captured the first ever legendary Pokemon, Articuno, which hasn't officially been released in the game. The player, kaitcovey, says that Niantic gave her the Pokemon as an apology after contacting the company about an issue with the game. Articuno was shown in a Twitch livestream to prove its authenticity.

As of right now, Niantic hasn't officially released a legendary Pokemon.
