Pokemon Franchise Closing Out On Nintendo 3DS

It looks like the Pokemon franchises' will no longer be adding any more games on Nintendo 3DS.

Game Freak director Shigeru Ohmori recently spoke with IGN about its plans for the Pokemon franchise on 3DS and according to the Game Freak bigwig, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon would culminate the company's work on the handheld gamin system, making the games the last Pokemon installments on the platform.

"When we were making Pokemon X and Y, we really were trying to push the 3DS system to its absolute limits - which is what we thought we'd done," Ohmori explained. "But when Sun and Moon came around, we completely redesigned the system, and actually ended up pushing the 3DS even further to what we thought was the most we could draw out of it."

However all good things must come to an end, and it seems like Game Freak is ready to move on and transfer the Pokemon Game series to Nintendo Switch.

"With Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, we've tried to eke that out more and really, really push the system to its absolute limits, and we're now feeling that perhaps this is the maximum of what we can get out," the director ended.

There's little information about what the Pokemon franchise is preparing for Nintendo Switch, but we're all hoping that it'll be even better than what the series offered on 3DS.
