Issue 251 of Total Film magazine confirmed that a certain planet would appear in the upcoming movie Thor Ragnarok, CBR reports.The planet in question is the gladiator world Sakaar. This was the planet the Hulk inhabited in Marvel's popular Planet Hulk storyline.
Thor Ragnarok director Taika Watiti confirmed the appearance of the planet. He also confirmed that Hulk and Thor will reunite in this movie. He said "Sakaar was just an insane, far-off futuristic place which was the biggest shift for the film and these characters."
Rumors that Ragnarok would recreate the Planet Hulk storyline to an extent have been swirling for a while, and it looks like this pretty much confirms it. The Thor Ragnarok movie will be opening November 3, 2017. The movie will include Chris Hemsworth's Thor and Mark Ruffalo's Hulk alongside actors like Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett and Tessa Thompson.
Planet Hulk is a pretty exciting storyline, so this is sure to excite fans. It remains to be soon how closely the movie will resemble its comic counterpart. Hopefully, the alien planet will be a setting for a good chunk of it.
