Peter Dinklage In Early Talks for 'Key' Role in 'Avengers: Infinity War' and Sequels

Peter Dinklage, aka Tyrion Lannister in The Game of Thrones, is reported to be in early talks with Marvel Studios to play what has been described as a 'key' role in the upcoming blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel.

If the deal pushes through, Dinklage will be shooting for the two films, which will be helmed back-to-back, this summer. The award-winning actor would have the time for the location shoot, as the seventh season of The Game of Thrones just wrapped its own filming a few weeks ago.

Variety, which broke the story, says that the part being offered to Dinklage is still unknown, with no details forthcoming from Marvel. Marvel has also no comment on the story. Sources close to the publication, though, did hint that Dinklage's part would be pivotal to the epic storyline.

In his last cinematic superhero outing, Dinklage had played mutant hunter Bolivar Trask in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

A lot of details about the two next Avengers films are still shrouded in secrecy. What is known is that Josh Brolin will voice the villain, galactic invader Thanos. Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans will reprise their roles as Iron Man and Captain Amerca respectively to fight any impending invasion of Earth.

IMDB names other actors as confirmed to return as the mighty Avengers: Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johannson (Black Widow), Tom Holland (Spiderman), with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) not far behind.

Fresh from their success off Captain America: Civil War, Anthony and Joe Russo will be setting the course for the next Avengers movies. Avengers: Infinity War is scheduled to open in theaters on May 2018.
