Paul Rudd Wrote Some of His Lines for Ant-Man and The Wasp

When Paul Rudd was cast as Scott Lang for Ant-Man, many knew it would be funnier than most MCU movies. The actor has great comedic timing and can clearly improv on the spot, so it's interesting to know that Rudd actually wrote some of Lang's lines for the sequel Ant-Man and The Wasp, which comes out next week.

This little factoid was shared during a press conference for the movie, which was covered by ComicBook.com. Michael Douglas said Rudd wrote more funny lines for himself, which Evangeline Lilly felt that his best lines were the ones he improvised and weren't in the script. Even director Peyton Reed commended Rudd's efforts, saying "Paul's as generous a writer as he is an actor. Paul always has the whole picture in mind when he's writing and acting."

Rudd credited Reed, along with the film's other writers Eric Summers and Chris McKenna for his work, noting that it was a collaborative effort. It does add more excitement to the film, which many are hoping will be the palette cleanser they need after the dramatic events of Avengers: Infinity War.

"I try and think of the film as a whole and I think of every character. This has been a collaborative effort more than anything I've ever worked on and to think that I actually wrote it would be a gross overstatement." He credits Peyton Reed and others, giving a lot of emphasis to Eric Summers and Chris McKenna who "did really a lot of the heavy lifting."

Ant-Man and The Wasp will hit theaters next week on July 6. Set after Captain America: Civil War, the duo are tasked with exploring the Microverse to look for Hank Pym's wife and Hope's mother Janet van Dyne.
