Back in May, the first paid skin for the fan-favorite healer Mercy was added in Overwatch. It cost players $15 to get the skin, but all proceeds went to a positive cause, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).

According to BCRF, the drive raised over $12.7 million, which is six times the amount raised by the latest Games Done Quick charity speedrunning marathon. BCRF also revealed that the amount raised by Overwatch players is the single biggest donation by a corporate partner in the 25 years of the foundation's existence.

"Blizzard Entertainment's record-breaking commitment to activate change for women's health by mobilising the gaming community worldwide will have a lasting impact," wrote BCRF's chief strategic alliances officer Stephanie Kauffman in BCRF's blog post.

The donations will be used for "prevention strategies, improved treatments, survivorship, and quality of life for breast cancer patients worldwide."

Blizzard's CEO Mike Morhaime also made a statement about the foundation's vital role in supporting women's health. "I'm grateful to all of the Overwatch players around the world who made supporting such a good cause possible with their enthusiasm for the game and their generosity."

In addition to the huge charity campaign, Blizzard also partnered with different Overwatch streamers, who were able to raise $130,000 for the campaign that lasted for two weeks.
