Overwatch Becomes Activision's 8th Billion-Dollar Franchise

Overwatch has been a huge success for Activision-Blizzard since its launch last year, earning over a billion dollar in sales in under a year.

As part of Activision-Blizzard's most recent financial results, this amount makes Overwatch Activision-Blizzard's eight billion-dollar franchise, sitting alongside World of Warcraft and Call of Duty.

According to the publisher, the multiplayer first-person shooter became Blizzard's fastest-growing franchise. Last month, the game hit 30 million registered players.

"The Overwatch League™ is gaining momentum and we're excited to offer our community of players the best professional league experience," Activision-Blizzard wrote. "Destiny 2 and Call of Duty®: WWII are also coming later this year, and both reveals have been very well received by fans."

Apparently, Overwatch's recent Uprising event also broke the game's record for time spent playing.

Overwatch's multiplayer gameplay, stellar characters, and fluid visuals make it great, and I'm excited to see how Blizzard will evolve this billion-dollar franchise.
