Oscar Isaac Talks About Intense Carrie Fisher Scene In The Last Jedi

Carrie Fisher's death last December came as a blow to the Star Wars community. The Hollywood actress, writer and mental health advocate was a legend and the world grieved over her passing.

After pledging to honor Carrie by refraining from digitally recreating her image in any future Star Wars film, Lucasfilm announced last Friday that the actress who was originally supposed to play a significant role in Star Wars: Episode IX would no longer appear in the last sequel trilogy movie.

While this may disappoint fans, Carrie will still appear in The Last Jedi and according to Poe Dameron actor Oscar Isaac, everyone will get to see a feisty General Leia in the upcoming Force Awakens sequel.

Speaking with Business Insider, Isaacs shared with the public one of the most memorable scenes he shared with Carrie in The Last Jedi.

"It was basically my first day [on set] and we did about 25 takes total. Half of them were on me and half of them were on her," Isaac said. "I can't give anything away but there was a scene where there was some physicality there and it was shot just over and over and over. She relished the physicality of it, let me just say. It was pretty intense. It will be funny to see what they cut together based on that."

Isaacs also said that he felt lucky that he "got to be in her gravitational field." Before her passing.

"At every moment she would just wander over with her Coke — she was constantly drinking Coca-Cola — and find a way to undercut the situation or to cut through something to make me laugh," Isaac recalled fondly.

Based on Isaac's anecdotes, it seems like Leia will have some pretty intense moments in The Last Jedi . It doesn't come off as a surprise – Leia was always a fighter.

Though we're sure that we'll see Carrie's radiant spirit shine through her portrayal of General Leia, we're certain that hearts will break watching the Rebel General one more time in the upcoming Star Wars film.

Featuring Fisher along with Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Lupita Nyong'o Mark Hamill, Benicio Del Toro, Kelly Marie Tran, and Laura Dern, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is scheduled to debut in cinemas on December 15, 2017.
