Some Magic: The Gathering artworks are worth more than the cards that feature them, and Modern Affinity players would be delighted to know that the original artwork of their favorite creature just got sold for a price even more expensive than Black Lotus!

Last week, the original art of Arcbound Ravager by Carl Critchlow was put up on auction which ended on Sunday, June 3. The final bid was $45,200 USD! The 9" x 12" piece is unframed and the paper measures 11" x 15". It's also being shipped from Canada so international shipping costs were added to the final price. That's more than double than the final bid of Therese Nielsen's Eternal Masters Force of Will painting, which sold for $21,000.

The Arcbound Ravager has been a powerful staple in Modern Affinity decks. Its cheap cost and Artifact-focused ability synergizes well with the rest of the Artifact cards in the deck.

Would you pay this much for a Magic: The Gathering art?
