Norman Reedus Discusses What Happens Inside Daryl's Head in The Walking Dead

When you're put in a dark cell without clothes and with a nasty peppy song blasting out loud, no one can say for sure how you'll be when you get out.

That's exactly what Daryl Dixon faced in the latest episode of The Walking Dead.

Now, Daryl actor Norman Reedus shared just what took place during the filming of that episode. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Reedus touched on the fact that, yes, he was totally naked in that cell.

"That was I think one of the filthiest I've ever been on this show, if not the filthiest. I mean, I'm very happy to be out of those sweatpants and that sweatshirt--that jail suit that they gave me."

Through it all, it seems that the hardest wasn't actually the physical torture, but the psychological one.

Viewers already know that he's probably blaming himself for Glenn's death. And Daryl being Daryl, it's likely that he thinks it was all his fault, and no one else's.

Reedus says that this may be what's fueling him to stand strong--not taking the "Negan" way out or even giving up and just praying that Negan will finally hit him with Lucille.

"Daryl's thinking he deserves it. Like, whatever happens to him, he deserves it, but he can't say he's Negan because it would give up all of the hope that Glenn had. Glenn was this optimistic guy. He was his friend."

How exactly this will end and where Daryl will end up now that he made his stand, we'll have to wait for the next episode.

I just hope it won't include Negan bringing to Alexandria any parts of Daryl.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9:00 p.m. on AMC.
