Wonder Woman 1984's Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins Reunite for Upcoming Cleopatra Film

Wonder Woman 1984 has yet to hit theaters but it looks like Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins have already found a new project to work on. The Justice League star and the Wonder Woman director have just signed on to produce a film about the legendary Egyptian queen Cleopatra.

The news comes from Deadline, which confirms Paramount Pictures has won an auction for the latest adaptation of Cleopatra's story. The project had reportedly brought in Gadot to play the titular queen while Jenkins is set to direct. Both Gadot and Jenkins will produce alongside Atlas Entertainment's Charles Roven and Pilot Wave Motion Pictures' Jaron Varsano.

Interestingly, the report also revealed that Gadot came up with the idea for the film and roped in Altered Carbon showrunner Laeta Kalogridis to do some research on the legendary queen and ultimately writing the screenplay.

For now, Gadot is the only star confirmed to appear in the upcoming project. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Gadot and Jenkins first collaborated on the first Wonder Woman movie before reuniting for Wonder Woman 1984. The 2017 film was a huge hit leading to great expectations about the sequel. With that in mind, there is little doubt that Cleopatra will be something to look forward to as well.

Wonder Woman 1984 will also star Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, and Pedro Pascal. Unfortunately, the movie has been delayed several times over the past two years. For now, it is scheduled for release on December 25.
