Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) won't be wasting any time getting down to business in Venom. The first clip from the highly anticipated film confirms that Eddie will immediately get on Carlton Drake's nerves.
The clip opens with Carlton (Riz Ahmed) telling the reporter that he believes "space exploration is crucial in our quest to cure everything that ails us here on Earth." However, Eddie isn't having any of that. He's interested in the darker side of Carlton's Life Foundation when it comes to testing pharmaceuticals. Although his companion tries to remind him that they are supposed to discuss "the rocket," Eddie asks about allegations where vulnerable people are being used for tests that eventually kill them.
Naturally, Carlton isn't happy with the direction the interview is going so he immediately has the reporter escorted out of his building. Eddie fires back saying they are "not finished." Carlton answers, "Yes, we are, Mr. Brock."
Eddie picks up on the cold response and questions if that was a threat. Carlton is too cool for the counter. He simply says, "Have a nice life."
There isn't much to see here but we can already tell that Eddie and Carlton aren't best friends. The exchange could be the first of several tense confrontations between the two throughout the film. Nevertheless, it's great to see Hardy and Ahmed play off each other with the right amount of tension. Hopefully, we'll see more interesting movie clips as the premiere date draws closer.
The film also stars Michelle Williams (The Greatest Showman), Woody Harrelson (Solo: A Star Wars Story), and Jenny Slate (Parks and Recreation). Venom is directed by Ruben Fleischer, who will also be working on the sequel to his 2009 flick Zombieland. The aptly-titled Zombieland Too will begin production in January 2019.
Venom will hit theaters on October 5.
