It looks like movie fans based in the United Kingdom will need to wait a little longer before heading for the cinemas. The UK Government has just decided to delay the re-opening of theaters this month. In addition to that, the use of face masks has been made mandatory in the country.

The news comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson made an official address confirming that theater re-openings will be moved from August 8 to August 15. The decision comes after Johnson realized that recent spikes of COVID-19 cases are still happening all over the country.

In addition to delaying the re-opening of cinemas and venues involving indoor activities like places of worship, Johnson confirmed that face masks will be mandatory in order to gain entry into these establishments.

“We will also extend the requirement to wear a face covering to other indoor settings where you are likely to come into contact with people you do not normally meet, such as museums, galleries, cinemas and places of worship,” Johnson said. “We now recommend face coverings are worn in these settings, and this will become enforceable in law from August 8.”

This is welcome news for people who are still concerned about the re-opening of cinemas all over the world amidst recurring cases of COVID-19. The new cases have even led to major films like Tenet and Mulan being pushed back to later release dates in August. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
