Tom Cruise to Skip 14-Day Quarantine to Film Mission Impossible 7 in UK Immediately

It has already been confirmed that several productions can finally resume in the United Kingdom as long as the people involved undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine before they get to work. However, it looks like there will be some exceptions. It has been confirmed that Tom Cruise will be allowed to skip the quarantine so he can start working on Mission Impossible 7 right away.

Variety revealed that the U.K. government will exempt leading actors like Tom Cruise from the 14-day travel quarantine. This will allow Hollywood blockbusters to resume production as soon as possible. Interestingly, some of the crew of these projects will also be included in the exemption.

The decision comes from culture secretary Oliver Dowden, who had met with Cruise about the exemption.

"The world's biggest blockbusters and high-end TV shows are made in Britain. Our creativity, expertise and highly successful tax reliefs for our screen industries means that we are an in demand location that in turn delivers a great return for our economy," Dowden said. "We want the industry to bounce back and exempting small numbers of essential cast and crew from quarantine is part of our continued commitment to getting cameras rolling safely again."

Mission Impossible 7 has already been in production in the UK but filming was forced to halt in late February due to the coronavirus outbreak. The film will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie along with the eighth movie, which will be shot back to back with the current project.
