Thor: Love And Thunder Director Taika Waititi Comments On Suicide Squad Role

In case you missed it, James Gunn has just confirmed that Taika Waititi is part of the cast of The Suicide Squad. But did Marvel Studios know that the Thor: Love and Thunder director will appear in the DC Extended Universe flick? Waititi commented on his upcoming role.

Waititi and Jojo Rabbit star Sam Rockwell recently spoke to MTV News where Waititi was asked if Marvel was aware that he was "double-dipping" in the two different comic book universes.

"Well, they didn't know until now, mate," Waititi said. "I don't know, I don't know what's going on with that. I don't know anything about that."

Although Waititi is understandably keeping quiet about his role in The Suicide Squad, he did address the possibility that Rockwell might return as Justin Hammer in Love and Thunder.

"Everything and anything is possible in Marvel," he teased.

Rockwell had previously appeared in Iron Man 2 where his arms dealer tried to get rid of the competition (Tony Stark) by employing Ivan Vanko to create similar weapons. It didn't end too well from Hammer but it would be interesting to see Rockwell trying to sell the Asgardians some weapons.

Waititi is just one of several names added to the cast of The Suicide Squad. Michael Rooker, who played Yondu Udonta in the two Guardians of the Galaxy movies, has also been confirmed in a yet-undisclosed role.

The Suicide Squad is scheduled for release on August 6, 2021. Thor: Love and Thunder is expected to premiere in Fall 2021 as well.
