The Witches Reboot Is Planning To Cast Anne Hathaway In Lead Role

Anne Hathaway is being torn between two children's films. In addition to being offered the lead role in the upcoming Sesame Street movie, the Alice Through The Looking Glass star is being considered for the reboot of the 1990 flick The Witches.

According to Variety, Hathaway has not yet decided on her next project. After all, these are big movies that are set to enthrall audiences worldwide. Although she could go for the educational and wholesome option with a starring role in Sesame Street, Hathaway might enjoy playing one of the seemingly elegant yet cruel characters in The Witches.

The role that is being offered to Hathaway was not disclosed. Nevertheless, there are speculations that she could portray the Grant High Witch of All the World, a role that was taken by veteran actress Anjelica Huston in the 1990 flick. It's not hard to imagine the Brokeback Mountain star as Miss Eva Ernst so we're hoping Hathaway decides on accepting the offer.

The Witches is based on Roald Dahl's 1983 children's book of the same title. The new remake will be directed by Robert Zemeckis. Guillermo del Toro and Alfonso Cuarón will serve as executive producers so there is little doubt that the new movie will be stunning.

Hathaway is certainly a busy woman these days. She is set to appear alongside Matthew McConaughey and Diane Lane in the Steven Knight thriller Serenity. Hathaway has also completed work on The Hustle, a remake of the 1988 comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

The Witches has not yet been given an official production start or release date. Nevertheless, the remake is expected to move forward as soon as the cast has been confirmed.
