The Walking Dead Creator Reveals Why Negan was Brought Back

We already know that Negan is still one of the major players in The Walking Dead Season 10. However, the character has somehow disappeared from the comic book series. That is, until the release of Negan Lives #1. Interestingly, Robert Kirkman has given a relatable reason why he decided to bring Negan back in the comics.

Kirkman recently spoke to Comicbook.com where he admitted that bringing Negan back was a way to spark fan interest all over again.

"We needed to come up with some ways to kind of boost (comic shop attendance) up," Kirkman said. "And in those discussions, I just started thinking, well, what would I do if I were to do any Walking Dead thing, if I were to do some kind of special thing, and I do miss Negan."

Kirkman continued by stating that it was finally time to find out what happened to the character after his disappearance.

"Negan is a character that hasn't appeared in the last however many 18 issues or whatever of the book, he hadn't appeared since issue 174. And so it's a character that I hadn't written in a while and I purposefully left him ambiguously still present in the series just because I thought that would be fun," he said.

This is welcome news for fans who have been hoping to learn even more about Negan. Now you can see more of the character in the AMC series as well as the comic books.

Negan Lives #1 is now available. The final episode of The Walking Dead Season 10 is expected to premiere on AMC later this year.
