The Umbrella Academy Season 2: Here's Why Vanya's Emotional Scene With [SPOILER] was Important

The second season of The Umbrella Academy is finally here and it's just as crazy as the first one. However, the Netflix series also featured a truly poignant moment that involved Vanya Hargreeves and one of her siblings that ended up being an important point in pushing the show towards the future.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers from The Umbrella Academy Season 2. Proceed with caution!

In the ninth episode 743, Vanya was captured after she destroyed an FBI building and is mistaken for a Soviet spy. When she is knocked unconscious, Ben decides to enter her consciousness and talk to his sister in an effort to convince her that she needs to stay alive and keep fighting.

During their conversation, it is revealed that Vanya thinks of herself as a monster but Ben tells her that "you are not a monster, you're my sister." Although the conversation concluded with Vanya being more firm about not causing the apocalypse, it also led to Ben disintegrating and going into the afterlife.

It's a highly emotional scene and Justin Min revealed to Collider that there was a good reason behind that: he thought it would be his final scene on the series.

"When I shot that final scene with Ellen Page and Vanya in Episode 9, I actually thought that was my final scene on the show. It was quite an emotional scene because Ben is saying goodbye to his family, but Justin, as the actor, I felt like I was saying goodbye to the show, as well, and my actual crew family that I've grown to love and care for, for the past six months, and even some of our continuing crew members, for the last two years," Min said.

We won't spoil things for you if you haven't finished watching The Umbrella Academy Season 2 just yet. In the meantime, the second season is currently streaming on Netflix.
