The Suicide Squad Director James Gunn Says Harley Quinn is Set for an Interesting Journey in DC Film

We already know that Harley Quinn has been through a lot in Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). However, it looks like her adventures are far from over when she returns in The Suicide Squad. Director James Gunn has just confirmed that Margot Robbie's character is set for "quite the journey" in the upcoming DC Extended Universe flick.

In Birds of Prey, Harley managed to bring together a group of women to take down mob boss Roman Sionis aka Black Mask before setting off into the sunset with her new friend Cassandra Cain and a lot of money. Although we might not know what happened to Cassandra and the money in The Suicide Squad, Gunn teased on Harley's new adventures next year.

"Harley goes on quite the journey in this film," Gunn wrote in response to a fan question on his official Instagram account (via Reddit).

For now, the premise of The Suicide Squad is still a mystery. However, we're sure that Harley ends up being reunited with Captain Boomerang, Rick Flag, and Amanda Waller. In addition to that, she might be working with some interesting new characters as well.

The Suicide Squad will bring back Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, and Jai Courtney. They will be joined by David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Steve Agee, Idris Elba, John Cena, Storm Reid, Flula Borg, Nathan Fillion, Peter Capaldi, Pete Davidson, Alice Braga, Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, Taika Waititi, Joaquín Cosío, Mayling Ng, Juan Diego Botto, Tinashe Kajese, Julio Ruiz, and Jennifer Holland. The film recently wrapped up production and is scheduled for release on August 6, 2021.
