The Suicide Squad Casts A Wrinkle in Time Star Storm Reid As Idris Elba's Daughter

It looks like The Suicide Squad just added another important character. Storm Reid, who previously headlined the Disney flick A Wrinkle In Time, has just been cast in the James Gunn film.

The report comes from The Hollywood Reporter, which confirms that Reid will be playing the daughter of Idris Elba's character.

So far, we still don't know who Elba will be playing in the follow-up to the 2016 DC Extended Universe flick. Although there have been speculations that the Hobbs & Shaw star is taking over Will Smith's role, the rumor has since been debunked. Nevertheless, it looks like Elba's character will have some similarities with Floyd Lawton, who had a close relationship with his own daughter in the David Ayer movie.

There have been speculations that Elba will portray Bronze Tiger in The Suicide Squad. However, DC and Warner Bros. have yet to confirm the Thor: Ragnarok star's role in the film.

Reid is best known for headlining the Ava DuVernay film alongside Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, and Chris Pine. She currently appears in the HBO series Euphoria where she plays the younger sister of Zendaya's character.

The Suicide Squad also stars Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, and Jai Courtney. New cast members include David Dastmalchian who has been confirmed to portray Polka-Dot Man.

Production for the DC flick is expected to begin next year. The Suicide Squad is currently scheduled for release on August 6, 2021.
