The Real Mandarin Reportedly Set As Primary Villain In MCU Film Shang-Chi

Marvel Studios might finally fix a little (or big) problem they had in Iron Man 3. The real Mandarin, and not just some pretender, is reportedly set to be the main villain in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe flick Shang-Chi.

People were previously excited when it was announced that the Mandarin will be the main baddie in Iron Man 3. However, excitement turned to confusion when it was revealed that the legendary Ben Kingsley was actually playing Trevor Slattery, a British actor who was hired by the real villain Aldrich Killian (Guy Pierce) to portray a terrorist leader. Luckily, Marvel appears to be determined to fix that mistake by introducing the real Mandarin to the MCU.

The report comes from We Got This Covered, who got their intel from a source who revealed The Mandarin will be the primary antagonist in Shang-Chi. This is certainly a welcome idea for fans who are hoping to see the Master of Kung Fu go up against an equally skilled villain. However, it is important to note that the update has not yet been confirmed so we recommend taking this with a grain of salt.

The Shang-Chi film is still in its early development but already has Wonder Woman 1984's David Callaham working on the screenplay. Additionally, Short Term 12 director Destin Daniel Cretton has been confirmed to helm the MCU flick. However, the lead roles of Shang-Chi and hopefully the real Mandarin have not yet been cast. We're waiting on news about this so stay tuned for more updates.
