The New Mutants Star Reveals Plans for X-Men Spin-Off Sequel

There is little doubt that The New Mutants is the last X-Men film, at least for now. However, there was a time when the spin-off movie was supposed to get its own sequel that would focus on one of the young mutants. Actor Henry Zaga has just revealed some of the details about the planned Sunspot film.

Zaga recently spoke to Comicbook.com where he confirmed that director Josh Boone was planning to work on a movie that would explore Roberto da Costa's origin story.

"Well, the plan was to go to Rio and really dive into his background and what happened in his world," Zaga confirmed. He then added that Bobby's father would be the main villain in the sequel.

"Sunspot's dad in the comics becomes a very difficult guy. He creates Hellfire Club, and there's so much to explore there. I'm not a writer, so I can't tell you what I would write, but there is so much there," Zaga said.

It's pretty disappointing to learn that the sequel that would focus on Sunspot is no longer happening. Nevertheless, we're hoping to see more of Zaga's mutant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
