It looks like the cat is finally out of the bag and we now know who Timothy Olyphant is playing in The Mandalorian Season 2. But what do we truly know about the mysterious Cobb Vanth and how he managed to get his hands on a particular set of Mandalorian armor? Some believe that Vanth had actually lied to Mando about how he acquired Boba Fett's armor in the Star Wars series.

In Chapter 9: The Marshal, Mando decided to go back to Tatooine to find another Mandalorian in the city of Mos Pelgo. However, he discovers that the man wearing the armor is actually just a marshal who is using it to maintain peace in the city. Since it is forbidden for non-Mandalorians to wear the armor, Mando convinces the man named Cobb Vanth to surrender the armor but before that, we learn how he got it in the first place.

According to Vanth, he is a survivor of the attack of the Mining Collective on the city and only managed to regain his freedom after trading a box of crystals with the Jawas who saved him. He also got the armor from the Jawas in the trade.

Sounds convincing, doesn't it? However, this isn't exactly what happened to Vanth in Star Wars' Aftermath novels. In the books, Vanth initially helped a man negotiate with the Jawas to get some weapons and mining equipment. When they both became interested in the Mandalorian armor, Vanth shot the man without killing him and convinced him to leave Tatooine.

So should he believe this guy? There is a possibility that Vanth's story was changed for The Mandalorian Season 2. On the other hand, some believe that it would later be revealed that the man who wanted the armor for himself is actually Boba Fett and that the two could have a tense reunion in a future episode.

Do you believe Vanth? Sound off in the comments below.
