The Little Mermaid Fan Art Depicts Idris Elba As King Triton, Terry Crews Nominates Self For Role

The recent casting of Halle Bailey in The Little Mermaid live-action remake certainly made way for a flurry of fan art depicting the young musician as Ariel. However, some artists are already wondering who will be cast as Bailey's father in the Disney film. Could it be Idris Elba, as featured in one fantastic fan art? Or will Terry Crews get the trident?

Internet artist Bosslogic decided that Elba would be the perfect King Triton and shared their art on social media. Check it out below.

That's actually pretty awesome but have you seen the Photoshopped magnificence that Crews probably made himself?

At this point, I'm seriously wondering who would be the better fit for King Triton. Sure, Elba has the regal face and can probably play a strict dad. However, this is a Disney film so Crews would be amazing as Ariel's dad. Either way, Disney couldn't go wrong whether they go for the Hobbs & Shaw star or the Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor.

Bailey's casting has proven to be an interesting topic for people on social media. Although some celebrated the casting of the Chloe x Halle singer in the Disney reboot, others questioned the idea of Ariel being played by a non-white actress.

Elba is currently working on the Cats movie where he will play Macavity. Crews recently confirmed that the White Chicks sequel is being developed and he is set to reprise his role as Latrell Spencer.

The Little Mermaid is expected to begin production in 2020.
