The Batman: Milo Ventimiglia Reveals Why Warner Bros Chose Robert Pattinson Over Him

We already know that Robert Pattinson is the new Batman who will take over after Ben Affleck. But did you know that This Is Us star Milo Ventimiglia was also one of the actors considered for the role in Matt Reeves' highly-anticipated DC film? Unfortunately, Warner Bros. decided against casting Ventimiglia for a surprising reason.

Ventimiglia was recently a guest on Variety and iHeart's movie podcast The Big Ticket where he was promoting his new movie The Art of Racing in the Rain. Interestingly, the former Gilmore Girls star admitted that he was interested in becoming the new Batman.

"Do I see myself in a cape and cowl?" Ventimiglia asked, immediately confirming that he did. Unfortunately, "Warner Bros. didn't," he explained. "They were looking for a new Batman, and they said, 'Ventimiglia, you're too old.'"

Ouch. That's gotta sting. After all, the 42-year-old Ventimiglia is only four years younger than Affleck. On the other hand, the studio must be determined to go for a much younger actor and found it in the 33-year-old Pattinson.

Sure, he's not Batman, but no hard feelings. "It's okay. It doesn't matter. By the way, I'm kind of busy, it's okay," Ventimiglia continued. He added that he is still very much "a fan" of the Caped Crusader. "I've always been a fan of Batman," he confessed.

Ventimiglia certainly is a busy man. He has already received three Emmy nominations for his performance as Jack Pearson in This Is Us. In addition to that, he's got a heartwarming film about a man and his dog that will be released on August 9.

The Batman is currently scheduled for release on June 25, 2021.
