It looks like Ankh-Morpork isn't the only Discworld location we'll be visiting soon. A massive new media deal for Terry Pratchett's production company could lead to more projects in the future.
According to io9, Pratchett's Narrativia has just signed an exclusive deal with Endeavor Content and Motive Pictures which aims to adapt more of the late author's works into possible films and TV shows. For now, it has not yet been confirmed which stories will be brought to life but it's safe to say that the doors to Discworld will be opening soon.
Interestingly, the media deal could be connected to BBC's upcoming series The Watch, which will feature characters from the Ankh-Morpork City Watch. It is suggested that BBC will collaborate with Endeavor Content and Motive Pictures for future projects.
Narrativia managing director Rob Wilkins released a statement about the new deal.
"The Discworld books are a huge source of joy to millions of readers, and rightly so; every paragraph, phrase and footnote was crafted with brilliance and flair and we are committed to bringing Terry's world to the screen with the respect and care it deserves," Wilkins said. "With this partnership, we are delighted to say that Discworld has finally found its home."
This is exciting news indeed considering that Pratchett's Discworld is a brilliant universe filled with fascinating (and hilarious) stories. The new adaptations have not yet been announced but we're already looking forward to the updates on this story.
The Watch has not yet been given an official release date. However, the new show is expected to premiere on BBC later this year.
