Syfy Cancels Krypton And DC Spin-Off Lobo

Seg-El's story is officially over. Syfy has just canceled the Superman prequel series Krypton after two seasons. In addition to that, the planned spin-off show focusing on Lobo will not be moving forward.

The depressing news was revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, which confirms that the DC show will not be getting a third season. According to the report, Krypton failed to "find an audience" and its Season 2 finale only drew in 350,000 same-day viewers. Unfortunately, the network believed that this was enough to pull the plug on the series.

The report also confirmed that the Lobo spin-off series starring Emmett J. Scanlan will no longer be pushing forward on Syfy. However, its producers Warner Horizons plans to shop the pilot in another network.

Krypton followed the story of Superman's grandfather Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe) as the House of El becomes ostracized on the planet. Seg decides to fight to bring his family's honor back with the help of Adam Strange, a human from the future who warns him about Brainiac.

The first season of Krypton was a resounding success for Syfy, which immediately renewed the show for a second season. Unfortunately, Season 2 has not been as successful. Looks like we'll never know if Seg and Adam managed to catch up with Lobo after the season finale The Alpha and The Omega.

Krypton Season 1 is currently streaming on DC Universe. The second season is expected to be available on the streaming service soon.
