Supernatural EP Reveals Which Original Character Will Not Return In Final Season

The final season of Supernatural is already set to premiere this October but fans are still wondering which character will return before the series comes to a close. Interestingly, there is one important character that fans are truly hoping to see in Season 15. Unfortunately, it might be the same person who isn't coming back any time soon.

Supernatural executive producer Eugenie Ross-Leming recently attended the Television Critics Association press tour where the possibility of John Winchester's return was asked (via Comicbook.com). However, Ross-Leming pointed out that the Winchester patriarch portrayed by Jeffrey Dean Morgan already had his perfect conclusion in the previous season.

"He had a fairly wonderful exit from the universe in his last appearance," Ross-Leming said. "I mean, I think it would be really hard to top that episode in terms of the family continuity and emotions. And I think he sort of made his mark the last season, myself."

That certainly sounds like a valid point. In the Season 14 episode Lebanon, Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) managed to bring John from 2003 to the present day. This resulted in a joyful reunion between John, his two sons Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean, and his resurrected wife Mary (Samantha Smith). Unfortunately, John needed to be sent back because his absence in 2003 was causing changes to the timeline.

Of course, we're still hoping that the series isn't ruling out the idea of John being revisited at least one more time. After all, John is one of the original characters from the first season who helped shaped the series to become such a success. Either way, there are great expectations when it comes to the final season.

Supernatural Season 15 will air on The CW on October 10.
